Everyone is guilty of skipping a dental appointment or tooth cleaning, but most people make it a point to see a dentist on a regular basis. Many Italians are skipping their dental appointments due to economic reasons. So many do not have dental insurance or cannot afford to see a dentist, that they are letting their teeth and oral health go.

It isn’t just that Italians are skipping a few appointments here and there, the number of missed appointments or lack of appointments has been growing steadily over the last 3 years. A recent study found that 12% of Italians over the age of 14 have missed an appointment or cleaning in the last 12 months.
