Michigan has a growing moose population that is causing destruction and trouble for many Michigan residents. Wolves are a natural predator of moose, but the declining wolf population means that there are simply not enough wolves to control the moose population. Michigan is working to protect these wolves and nurture the current populations so they can grow.

Until then, Michigan officials are considering importing wolves into Michigan to help control the moose. Of the few wolves living in Michigan, many of them are sick, weak and inbred. Introducing new wolves would help make the population stronger and allow it to grow quicker. Not everyone is convinced that this is the right option.
