When you think about places that require a lot of rescues, the national parks may come to mind. While places like Yellowstone park are at the top of the charts in visitor rescues, the Michigan Dunes require more rescues than many more dangerous places. The dunes are a popular vacation spot and thousands of people visit the area every year.
While many people are able to navigate the dunes safely, many others get lost, stranded or injured while visiting the dunes and need to be rescued. There is a special team of rescuers that help save those who are in need. Sleeping Bear Dunes ranked 13 out of more than 100 national parks in terms of most recues for year.
