Grand Rapids, Michigan just suffered through one of their coldest winters in 37 years. The average temperature for February was 13.3 degrees with the previous record set in 1978 at 14.3 degrees. Low temperatures dipped below zero eight times with highs barely out of the teens. Frequent blasts of artic air kept the temperatures down for the record cold and beachgoers were treated to ice formations and caves on the shores.

It is predicted that March will also see temperatures below normal temps for the month with another blast from arctic air with highs in the teens and lows below zero.
